Guidelines
What the rules actually say
The published Procam Virtual Slam guidelines, grouped into the things that decide whether a cycle counts: eligibility, cut-offs, how an activity is recorded, and what invalidates it.
Eligibility
Four races, consecutively, same identity
Only the feature categories
“Only these designated feature virtual race categories shall be considered for the Procam Virtual Slam.” The Virtual 5K and the non-feature Virtual 10Ks do not count.
No separate registration
There is no Virtual Slam entry to buy. You register for and complete each of the four races through the official registration platform, and paying each entry fee is mandatory.
One name, one date of birth
“To ensure seamless tracking of their data, participants must use the same name and date of birth across all four race registrations.”
Start anywhere, then no gaps
A cycle may begin at any of the four events, but the remaining three must follow consecutively.
Cut-offs
Mandatory finish times
| Feature virtual race | Distance | Cut-off |
|---|---|---|
| Virtual Marathon | 42.195 km | 7 hrs 30 mins |
| Virtual 25K | 25 km | 4 hrs 30 mins |
| Virtual Half Marathon | 21.097 km | 3 hrs 45 mins |
| Virtual 10K | 10 km | 1 hr 30 mins |
Distance alone earns nothing
“Completion beyond the official cut-off shall not qualify towards the Procam Virtual Slam, irrespective of whether the participant successfully completes the distance.”
Recording
HDOR is the single source of truth
“Participants must record and submit their race activity primarily through the official HDOR App designated for that Event.” A secondary app or device — Strava, Garmin, an Apple Watch — may be used provided it is integrated with the HDOR App.
“HDOR will be treated as the single source of truth for the Event; only activity data synced through an integrated app/device will be considered valid. Manually entered activities will not be accepted under any circumstances.”
Running and walking only
“All qualifying virtual races must be completed solely by walking and/or running. Activities recorded through cycling or any other mode of movement will not be considered valid unless expressly permitted under the event-specific Virtual Race Rules.” Treadmill activity is not accepted either.
An on-ground race can count
Runners who complete an official on-ground race anywhere in the world during the virtual race window, record it on the HDOR app and comply with the virtual race rules are eligible, subject to verification.
Breaking a cycle
What counts as a gap
The guidelines define a gap broadly. Any one of these ends the attempt.
- Failure to register for an eligible event.
- Failure to complete the prescribed distance.
- Finishing outside the official virtual race period for that event.
- Finishing outside the cut-off timing for that category.
- Disqualification for non-compliance with the event virtual race rules.
A gap means starting over
“In the event that a participant misses, skips or fails to complete any one of the four qualifying races, the Procam Virtual Slam shall be considered incomplete, and the participant must recommence the cycle from the first eligible event of the next Procam Virtual Slam Cycle.”
Integrity
Invalid activity and misconduct
Invalid activities
“Activities found to be manipulated, edited, duplicated, manually modified or otherwise inconsistent with the official validation process shall be deemed invalid and shall not be considered towards the Procam Virtual Slam.”
Participation is personal
Using another person's activity, sharing accounts, registering under multiple identities, or having someone else complete a race results in disqualification from the Virtual Slam.
Procam reserves the right to investigate suspicious activity and may invalidate results or withdraw the medal even after it has been awarded.
The medal
Rewards and their conditions
- The medal is awarded “only upon successful completion of all four feature virtual races within the prescribed cut-off timings.”
- It is couriered to the postal address given at registration, within 30 days of the fourth finish.
- Any address change must be notified to Procam at least 14 days before that fourth finish.
- Further recognition — a digital certificate, badge or leaderboard acknowledgement — may be introduced at Procam's sole discretion.
- Rewards are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and have no cash value.
Independent of the on-ground Slam
“The Procam Virtual Slam is an independent recognition programme and has no association with or bearing on the on-ground Procam Slam. Participation in or completion of one programme shall not qualify a participant for the other.” A virtual race finisher certificate is also not accepted as a qualifying timing certificate for on-ground events that require one.
Procam can change the programme
Procam reserves the right to modify, amend, suspend or discontinue the Virtual Slam, its eligibility criteria, its rewards or these guidelines at any time without prior notice.
In any dispute over eligibility, completion, validation or interpretation, “the decision of Procam International shall be final and binding on all participants.”
